The ratified agreement provides our pilots a 4 percent increase to base pay rates on Date of Signing (DOS). Structural increases of 2 percent will take effect every 12 months for the duration of the contract, and in year four, there will be a one-time pay rate adjustment based on a weighted average calculated by available seat miles (or a 2 percent structural increase, whichever is greater).
The ratified agreement calls for moving from dozens of different pilot pay rates to grouping equipment into pay bands which will lower training costs and offer pilots more stability and career predictability. This will also better position American to bring new aircraft into service in the future.

Other changes to pilots’ compensation include replacing the current premium pay provisions with a single rate structure of time and a half, which will be paid on company designated sequences, as well as the introduction of sequence protection. This will provide pilots with pay protection for the value of each sequence, and has been long requested and sought-after by our pilots.
